GRIOT Circle provides programs and services that help our members in removing the isolation and fear around aging, and with the hope of empowering people to attain self-sufficiency and to be free to enjoy aging in a safe and supportive environment.
- Volunteer Program – Supports development of organizational, public speaking, communication and computer skills. Promotes sense of ownership of the organization among elders through their involvement in planning, developing and managing logistics for activities.
- Buddy-2-Buddy Unisex Program– Decreases isolation and increases social and educational opportunities. GRIOT volunteers provide free support, advocacy, companionship and assistance to members who are home-bound, in hospitals or nursing homes.
- Ron Walker Caring Caller – Volunteers keep up daily contact with members who wish to receive telephone calls through this collaboration with the New York City Police Department in precincts where our members reside.
- Health & Fitness Program – With the YWCA members are offered fitness exercises and swimming classes for women surviving cancer. Also, flu shots, blood pressure tests, nutrition counseling. home health aide referrals and caregivers support network.
